What’s The Difference Between Mercedes-Benz Service A and B?

Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Schedules

The German company strives to maintain high levels of quality. Mercedes does that by dividing the maintenance schedule for their cars into two parts. There is a Service A and a Service B. 

What do each of them signify? Let’s find out!

Mercedes Service A

The Schedule A for Mercedes’ vehicles is for those cars that are manufactured after 2009. That’s because almost all the vehicles the marque made after that year have special needs, especially the bigger engine V12 cars.

The first service for schedule A cars is at 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. After that first maintenance, the car is due after 20,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first. 

If you keep that in mind, the schedule should look like this: 

The first is at 10,000 followed by one at 30,000 – 50,000 – 70,000 – 90,000 and so on.

The mileage when you go for the service is determined. However, the time frame can vary because for those who drive more, the service window will come sooner than for those who drive rarely. 

The maintenance work includes: 

• Engine oil/ transmission oil, coolant change
• Replacing the filters
• Inspecting tires
• Checking the brakes

If your car has special needs the maintenance work will slightly differ from the one above. 

Mercedes Service B 

Mercedes Service B takes care of the vehicle after every 20,000 miles. So, as soon as you are done with Service A, it is time for Service B. The latter starts at 20,000 miles or 2 years, which ever comes first. Afterwards, you go in for maintenance at 40,000 – 60,000 – 80,000 – 100,000 miles. 

Since the Service B is every 2 years, there is a bit of extra work done to your vehicle. Apart from the regular fluid checks, lubricant changes and tire inspection, you get: 

• Cabin filter change. 

That’s the only major difference between the two except the mileage rating.
